Both innovations aim to ease the day-to-day work of running and participating in clinical trials

CONSHOHOCKEN, PA — Suvoda, a global clinical trial technology company, today announced that PM360 has named the company a winner of two 2026 Innovation Awards: Sofia, Suvoda's AI assistant, in the Artificial Intelligence category, and the Suvoda App in the Clinical Trials category. Both innovations will be featured in PM360's September issue.

For Suvoda, the recognition acknowledges its focus on reducing the burdens that people encounter at different points in a clinical trial: patients managing visits, questionnaires, travel, and reimbursement alongside the demands of daily life; site teams tracking study status, drug supplies, and participant needs; and sponsors coordinating complex studies where delays and disconnected information can slow decisions. Suvoda built Sofia and the Suvoda App to address those burdens.

Sofia: a conversational AI assistant built for regulated trials

Sofia gives study teams faster access to the RTSM study data and eCOA information they need to understand what is happening in a trial and take the next step. Through a conversational interface, sponsors can chat with Sofia to gain insights into drug inventory, access reports, and understand the latest trial status, helping them make confident decisions. Sites can get fast answers to common questions about their trial, so they can spend less time navigating the system and more time advancing the trial. Sofia provides clear, contextual answers, accompanied by relevant tables and visualizations.

Suvoda built Sofia with guardrails designed to constrain responses to tested, study-specific information while keeping answers auditable and enforcing role-based access and data privacy controls. For example, Sofia applies each user's role, permissions, and study context while maintaining study blinding and data integrity. Sofia can respond to questions across more than 40 topics, with deterministic instructions and fully validated responses. It runs on the Suvoda Platform, which has supported more than 6,000 trials across more than 115 countries.

“Clinical trial teams need fast, clear answers to the questions that come up every day,” said Jadon Sargeant, Senior Product Owner at Suvoda. “With Sofia, we’re putting that information closer to the moment a decision needs to be made. This recognition reflects the care we’ve taken to make AI useful in a highly regulated industry, staying grounded in study context, permissions, and thorough testing.”

Suvoda App: one place for the patients’ study needs

The Suvoda App gives patients more control over their clinical trial experience by bringing several tasks into one mobile experience. Instead of navigating separate tools, emails, and phone calls, patients can complete questionnaires and diaries, submit receipts, track reimbursement status, book a rideshare, view travel details, schedule and reschedule visits, and receive important reminders in one place.

“Participating in a clinical trial is already a lot to ask of someone,” said Elizabeth Smith, Director of Product Management, Patient Engagement at Suvoda. “The Suvoda App brings together many activities which have historically been separate and confusing. Now patients can see what they need to do next and take care of everything in one place. This award reflects that we listened when patients and sites told us how their experiences could be simpler.”

Together, Sofia and the Suvoda App reflect Suvoda’s ambition to build technology that eases the experience for the people doing the hard, essential work in clinical trials, so that life-changing studies can keep moving forward.
